Face identification and verification
Biometric identification is used to identify and authenticate a person using a set of identifiable and verifiable data, unique and specific people.

  • The identification answers the question, “who are you?”
  • Authentication answers the question, “are you really the person you’re talking about?”

Here are some examples:
In the case of face biometrics, two or three-dimensional sensors “capture” a face. Then, before comparing the collected image with the image stored in the database, an algorithm is applied to convert it into digital data.
These automated systems can identify or check an individual’s identity within seconds based on their facial features (eye spacing, bridge of nose, lip, ear, chin, etc.).

They can even do so in crowds, in dynamic and unstable environments. This is evidenced by the performance of Thales’s real-time face recognition system (LFIS), an advanced solution derived from our long-term expertise in biometric recognition.

Of course, there are other features of the human body, such as fingerprints, iris scans, speech recognition, palm vein digitization, and behavioral measurement.
